Tom Beckett General Good action shot at one of the LIRR's more interesting junctions. In an age where open towers are few and very far between, LIRR is blessed with a number of them, and this is one of the busier ones. It's an easy shot, too, right off the end of the Valley Stream platform. I like that LIRR in recent years has put the car numbers on the end doors. Makes it a lot easier to identify what you shot later on. I have a lot of photos from the 80's where figuring that out is almost pure guesswork, since my sight isn't as sharp as it once was. The lead car must be on its last legs by now, as it is one of the early cars in the first M 1 order, delivered in 1968. I remember when they replaced the aged MP 54's in the late 60's and early 70's; hard to believe that set is over 40 years old. I still think of them as the "new" cars. Getting old, I guess!! 12/23/2015 2:37:49 AM
